Primary Care Training Centre

Rebecca has been a tutor at the training centre since early 2016. She is involved in the delivery of diabetes education courses and study days for healthcare professionals and allied health staff. Tutors are required to have primary care experience and are approved by Teeside University.



Diabetes & Wellbeing are trainers for PITstop, a national diabetes training provider for primary care healthcare professionals.

Accredited by the Royal College of General Practitioners PITstop is a practical training course aimed at diabetes practice teams in primary care.

The course focuses on developing skills to initiate and support people with type 2 diabetes on more complex medication regimens, including injectable therapies.

Huddersfield primary care diabetes conference

As well as being the main speakers at the conference we presented and facilitated sessions.

We shared the latest research on diabetes treatment pathways and case studies which illustrated the benefits of best practice.

Questions and answers sessions followed.

Education session for pharmacy dispensers

Pharmacists are often the first port of call for people looking for health advice.

In this well-received session we considered the essential role of pharmacy professionals in diabetes management.

We delivered some targeted education covering a diabetes overview, complications, risk reduction and treatment pathways.

The session was well-received, underlined by the positive feedback from evaluation forms.

Hartlepool & Stockton CCG

Diabetes & wellbeing delivered a series of half-day education sessions to practice nurses.

Concentrating on diabetes management, this competency-based training was tailored to meet their needs.

Healthcare assistants course

Again, we designed a training course for the specific requirements of healthcare assistants.

This involved both theoretical and practical skills sessions.
